Welcome to The Last Stand On Mars!

The game is developed by Bryan Veres and Sichang Su. Explore the Martian landscape and defend your colony from alien invaders! For controls and gameplay objectives, checkout "Introduction" and "About" from the main menu! If you would like to know more background story, we also have a "Background Story" button ready for you on the main menu!

Gameworld and Storytelling: Mars, 2150. The red planet is now a battleground for the player and alien invaders. In “The Last Stand On Mars”, you step into the boots of a human fighter defending The Human Martian Base.  The game world is a Martian landscape, with different types of the terrain. Enemies are everywhere, you need to fight them, protect your people, and eventually be the last one stand on Mars! Be extra careful with the pure green enemies, they are the pure blood of Mars... really powerful! 

Gameplay Goal and Mechanics: “The Last Stand on Mars” focuses on delivering thrilling danger to the players. In this game, you will play as a brave fighter, fighting against the alien creatures that trying to take your life. Kill them first and look for a blue key card, that's your way to the next level! Eventually you will face the final boss, the powerful Hive Queen, kill her and be the last one stand on Mars!

Work Breakdown:

  • Bryan Veres: Bryan focused on environment design, creating the expansive Martian landscapes. On top of that, Bryan implemented the very-important key card feature, game's physics and special effects. In addition, Bryan found the soundtracks that match the theme of the game. 
  • Sichang Su: Sichang came up with the story of the game. Since Sichang came up with the story, he then also developed the main character and modify the weapons and enemies to fit the theme of the game. Besides that, Sichang also modify the main menu, adding section "Background Story". Eventually, when the project is finished, Sichang tested the gameplay loop and make a demo video. 

Building on Class Assets: This project began as a class assignment, starting with basic FPS mechanics and AI scripts. We have significantly expanded these assets, customizing them to support our unique game.
